The Wisdom Well (FAQs)
Some quick answers to frequently asked questions . . .
How do I program my controller?
Please check your Irrigation Manual. If we have installed your system a manual would have been left sealed in a zip-lock plastic bag, this can take you through how to use your irrigation controller.
If you cannot locate the manual you can contact our office and we can help you obtain one over the internet. Otherwise, check out these websites for the respective brand controllers:
Hunter Controller: www.hunterindustries.com
Rainbird Controller:

You will find an interactive guide at the above sites by clicking on the link.
All of my irrigation system stations/zones are coming on at once and/or they won't turn off. Why?
This is usually caused by something in the valves, maybe dirt, stone or a damaged/worn diaphragm. The valve needs to be pulled apart, cleaned and the diaphragm may need replacement and reassembly. This is a delicate job as there are many small parts in the valve which can easily be lost when pulled apart if you are not trained or have never done this before. You can also end up doing more damage and then the entire valve may have to be replaced.
My Irrigation System turns on, runs through each zone, then starts from the first zone and just keeps running through each again and again. How do I fix it?
This is usually caused by incorrect programming of the controller, it most likely will have too many start times programmed. A system only needs one start time. However, in circumstances where there has been new turf layed you may have three start times programmed: morning, afternoon and night. In most other circumstances only one start time is required.
How do I check what days my system is watering?
Every controller is different so it is best to refer to your controller manual. If you don't have one, a copy can usually be downloaded from the manufacturers' websites. If you have a dial on your controller, you need to turn it to "Watering Days". You will see something like "Mon Tue Wed" on the screen. The days with a line through them are non watering days. The days you are watering may be circled.
My system is not working, how does my RainSensor operate?
When the Rainsensor activates due to sufficient rainfall, the sprinkler system will remain inactive until the hygroscopic discs inside the sensor have dried out. This dry-out rate will be about the same as your soil's drying rate and allow for sprinkler reactivation once the soil is dry enough to be watered again. The rate can be adjusted to a slower dry-out rate with the vent ring. After the RainSensor 'dries out' the controller will resume its normal watering schedule.

Will my exisitng landscaping be damaged during the installation?
We are there to look after you garden and place this as a top priority. We use trenching machines, vibrating plates and many other sorts of machinery to minimise the impact we may have on your lawn. In many cases it is impossible to tell a system was installed within a couple of weeks.
How much water can I expect to use with my new system?
None. In fact, with a properly designed system, you will use substantially less water than you did hand watering.
